This is not a joke!:
Tuesday Nov. 9th, Page 4 of “The National” newspaper headline:
“Two-day ‘rainy season’ on its way; And the temperature could also plummet to a bitterly cold 28*C”
(Just as a point of reference, 28*C is 82*F)
Are they serious? Bitterly cold?!!!!!! My family in Tennessee received snow this past weekend! Now that’s cold! We have been waiting for the temperature to fall below 90*F for weeks! Everyone said it would happen, and only because we had visited here last December when the temperatures hovered in the high 70’s, did I believe them. Otherwise, one really begins to think that the heat is here for good! Being able to walk outside without feeling like you’ve entered an oven is a beautiful thing!
The evenings are lovely now! We live 2 blocks from the Corniche, which is the promenade that runs along the Gulf. It is busy with cafes and shops and we love to walk along to ColdStone Creamery in the evenings! It reminds us of the great times we had meeting up with our good friends the McKeeferys at the Melbourne Cold Stone and Starbucks! Until recently it was actually even too hot in the evenings to walk there!
There is a Family Park across the street from our apartment building and until yesterday the only people I had seen in the park were the groundskeepers! It was a joy to see a few people walking through the paths yesterday! I began to realize that we hadn’t really seen life outside of the Malls until this week! The Malls are the source of family fun when the weather is unbearable outside!
The girls begin another holdiay this weekend called Eid-Al -Adha. (More on this later) They are off from school for a week so we’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the outdoors during this “bitterly cold” weather!!!
