First stop: Dibba
Today we left Abu Dhabi on a 6 day road trip that will take us across the UAE and then north into a small part of Oman known as the Musandam Peninsula.
We started with a drive of about 270 km/165 miles which took us across the UAE to the north and we arrived in the small town of Hatta. This town is actually in the Hajar Mountains. Yes mountains in the desert! It was exciting to see the different landscapes. It is the home to the oldest fort in the Dubai Emirate built in1790. We stopped for lunch at the Hatta Fort Hotel.
The second half of the day was a shorter drive of about 115 km/ 70 miles along the eastern coast of the UAE through another of the seven Emirates (like states) called Fujairah. As we drove along the coast we passed through many small towns. I realized that I prefer living the in the capital city of Abu Dhabi. These towns are much less modernized. In the late afternoon we arrived in the small fishing town of Dibba. This is a resort area on the Indian Ocean. It is a lovely setting with the Hajar Mountains on one side and the Ocean on the other! I’m looking forward to some relaxation on the beach tomorrow!
