Sorry it’s been a while. We are still having problems getting internet service in the apartment. It appears that our part of the building was missed during the construction phase by the local cable company!! Maybe they thought since we had such an amazing view we shouldn’t get cable!! So we have gone out and bought a wireless router.
Anyway, this week we realized the reward for non-muslims who follow the guidelines of no eating or drinking in public during the day during Ramadan. We get to celebrate the muslim holiday called Eid-Al-Fitr. This is their holiday marking the end of Ramadan. It was originally a four day weekend for the girls but was then extended to a 6 day weekend! This is definitely worth it! So we made a very quick decision to take advantage of this time off and will be traveling to Jordan. We will be staying in Amman, then driving to the hidden city of Petra and hopefully visiting the Dead Sea! We are all very excited!
I will take lots of pictures and will have a wonderful update for you when we return.
I’m sure many of you are saying to yourself, Leslie hasn’t complained about anything yet – that can’t be possible! She can’t be happy all the time!! I will admit that I have been frustrated many times: trying to get parked at the malls in the evenings, wanting to go shopping in the afternoon but can’t because stores are closed, not being able to take water bottles to the gym during Ramadan, the heat – yes it’s still over 100*, not having internet or TV for over a month… But I will be honest with you, I have had 2 friends lose their sons this summer, and one friend recently lost her husband suddenly. Compared to those horrific losses, the fact that I haven’t had TV or internet for a few weeks seems trivial. So through their losses I have learned to not sweat the little things as they say. We have decided to take advantage of all that is being offered to us here – the good and the frustrating!! As long as we are healthy and are together that is all that matters!
